Choir

Rikke, the principal's evening once in a week, when we sing pop songs, and very often african songs. did i tell about it already? whatever.

Thula Sizwe is our favourite, an African freedom song. She told us her experience back in 1996 when they visited South Africa with the 'Papaya choir' (if i understood their name right...)It was 2 years after Mandela become the president, after the first fully representative democratic elections. You can imagine, white people rarely sang freedom songs loud, when the memories and signs of apartheid was almost still in the air.
So there was this first performance in a big church and when people heard them singing, they came out of the houses and joined to these 18 people from Denmark., and crowded the church...and everyone loved each other, hand by hand. and she said it was unforgettable.

We end the evening with singing thula thula in dark, from our whole heart. once I'll record it, i swear!
