What do we know about Iceland? We have some Icelandic students here, so fortunately one can catch some treasures of their culture. In the freestyle program of the school students can choose music lesson. Here I met Emil, the music teacher. He is a very interesting guy. He does a master called Global music master degree.. so its not really an ordinary course you can imagine.. the other day we were in the library talking, I helped him out with some bars and clubs in Budapest because he goes there to chill out soon. He told me about their class, where the icelandic girls tought this sad song...and I become very interested..so let me share it, and as i got the link i can embed it..so, the first encounter with Iceland...about a lullaby!
a lot of mothers sing it for their children before they go to sleep but it was originally writtin for a play that was build on a true story about man and a woman, who had been banished and lived in the montains. they had a baby that they couldn't keep because they could barley provid themselves. And she sings this song rigth before she throws the child into a waterfall. it is a really famous story and a really famous song in Iceland.
